Biond - plant-based print materials

Plant-based materials are on the way to changing the market for graphic and technical products. By using renewable raw materials from the plant kingdom, films, “plastics” and laminates can be created that offer the same performance as traditional oil-based alternatives – but with a significantly lower climate footprint. These bio-based products reduce carbon emissions from the raw material’s growth and enable more sustainable production chains. At the same time, they are often free of problematic additives such as PVC and plasticizers. The result is modern, high-quality materials that combine function, design and environmental benefits. A concrete example is Biond, a PVC-free, plant-based print vinyl with over 80% biocomponents. The film has a thickness of around 90 μm, is free of plasticizers and is intended for digital printing with UV, latex and eco-solvent inks. In combination with customized laminates, Biond provides long durability, outstanding fire protection properties, high color stability and a significantly lower carbon footprint than traditional vinyls.
